About Me

Hello everyone!

Photo taken by Malaika Moyo.
Thanks for checking out my 'About Me' page. (Now if only I knew what to write here... just kidding?)

My name is K. L. Stevens. I live in Michigan and I'm twenty-one years old. I recently graduated from college Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Arts and I'll be heading off to university at some point (also known as: whenever I decide what degree I want).

I'm a supporter of the arts and I'm involved in several of them.

Foremost, I am a creative writer. I write novels and poetry, and I keep a number of side projects that I'm not entirely sure how to classify. I've been writing since my teachers told me I had to, but I've been writing toward a career since about 2004 - ninth grade of high school. Eventually, small pieces of my work will appear on this blog. And, further down the line, I will create an author website and link to it.

During high school, I also dabbled in art. And by dabbled, I mean, spent a ridiculous about of time in the art room sketching, drawing, painting, creating 3-D design projects, sculpting, and generally making a mess. Outside the art room, I was experimenting with photography - a habit I haven't dropped, yet (and probably won't any time soon, if I'm being honest). Since high school, I've expanded into beading, sewing, and digital art.

Ink Is Gold was created as a place for me to spill writing information, music recommendations, book reviews, and stuff to do with my writing life (I was also a tutor in college, which I quite enjoyed, so you'll probably see a few posts around here regarding that job at some point.). Despite talk of possible expansions into the art field, I have opted to keep this blog as it began. If you happen to be interested in the art-based part of my life, I recommend visiting the links below.
