Oh The Possibilities

Writing isn't my entire life. That's kind of a strange thing to think about, given that this blog is about writing - for the most part - but it's true. And, lately, that's been even more true than usual. Lately, I haven't been writing much at all.

In fact, I've been really busy with the other parts of my life. And because of that, I haven't had a great deal to write about here or a great deal of time to write about anything.

This is not a for sure thing, but I have been toying with the idea of turning this blog into something... a bit different. Something a bit more.

What are your thoughts on this blog expanding to cover more topics than just writing?

It also has occurred to me recently that I don't tend to get very personal on here. This, however, is a blog. This is not a journal. And it is that difference in words that keeps me from writing about my personal life, or things that may be considered off topic.

Tell me, what would you think about seeing a change around here to include a few things that are more personal in nature but still related to writing or possible new topics?

Your input is greatly appreciated.

For right now, I'm going to leave things running. But, if I decide to start changing things around here, I may put the blogging on hiatus for a while.

Who knows?

This world is full of possibilities.

  1. Personal's fine, if you have more you want to write about. I always thought you did a pretty good job of sticking to your topic while still managing to insert neat little personal things in (like in your post about the Harry Potter books).

If you want to cover more topics, I think those posts would be just as interesting.

I think one of the reasons I find your blog so interesting is because you already deal with personal topics. You can't talk about writing, music, and your thoughts on the books you read without putting a piece of yourself into the post. Following that logic, more personal posts should only be more interesting.

But in the end it's your choice. If you feel it belongs, it does. If not, the way you're doing things now is great too.

The hiatus part is the one thing I'm not sure about.:P I suppose that's fine though, if we get shiny new posts at the end of it.

  2. I'm going on hiatus. I'll be gone for a few weeks, but when I get back I promise there will be plenty of new material to go around for the next several months - excluding November, since that's NaNo time.

As for the rest of your post, thank you. It's good to hear that you're enjoying everything and it's nice to hear your thoughts.

I'm still not sure what I'll be doing regarding covering more topics, but that's partially what the hiatus is for (other than writing a ton of new stuff).

As for the personal stuff, yeah, I do tend to delve into that. I meant more along the lines of actually including some of what I do on a day to day basis in my posts. (Not that my personal life will start dominating, though. It's not that interesting.)

Anyway, I think the break will be good for me and hopefully for you all, too. Stupid as it may sound, Monday/Friday deadlines freak me out a bit and I feel like I've not been writing to my full potential because I'm afraid I won't have time to finish. So, hopefully this break will fix that issue and the material will be a bit more substantial. :)

I'll probably still be around here to check comments and what not, so not a total disappearing act.
